Über Wasser (On Water)

I had the idea of a music about water in the spring of 2017 during a vacation on the beautiful island of Madeira. Water is omnipresent there – obviously due to the location far out in the Atlantic, but also because of the clouds that, seemingly within reach, move up the steep and high slopes or present a magnificent spectacle above the sea.
On our hikes along the Levadas (a network of irrigation canals across the island) we were accompanied by the sounds of dripping, flowing and rushing water.

Starting from an initial sensual approach with the working title „Atlantic Symphony” over time I developed a more comprehensive, also abstract concept of 4 movements to deal with different aspects, namely the physical, psychic, physiological and transcendental aspect of water.

In between the four movements 3 poems serve as elucidation.
These poems may be presented during a concert in different ways, as live recitation or optical projection. In no way shall they distract the audience's attention while listening to the music.
